Due to my work with Heartstrings Community Foundation, and my love for children I try to be involved in making a difference. I see firsthand at HCF what a difference that involvement can make and it really warms my heart. I have been a supporter of Reece’s Rainbow for a couple of years now as well and they are an organization that helps connect mommy’s and daddies to the children that God meant for them to have. These children are orphans in other countries and these children all have special needs. Did you know that there are 143 million orphans in the world and every two seconds another child becomes an orphan? The statistics make my heart ache for all of these babies that have never known a mother or fathers love and may never know .
There are many children that tug at my heart on this website, however I am currently advocating for the children that are approaching the age of five. At five years old the children in almost all of these orphanages go to a mental institution to live the rest of their lives alone, some in cribs too small for them to stretch out and a big majority of them are tied to these cribs with no human contact except for when the workers at the mental institution decide to change their diapers every couple of days or so, I won’t elaborate. Only a very small amount are blessed enough to be able to stay at the baby house after that age. It is easy for all of us to delete emails and make it all go away because you can’t handle the truth or hurt that you feel for these orphans, but it is not that easy for these children. They have a harsh reality that they live with day in and day out that won’t go away until MAYBE someday a mommy or daddy comes to rescue them.
There are a lot of families out there that would love to bring these children home however they do not qualify because of income qualifications, or they do not have the estimated 20k that it takes to get their babies back to this country and into a loving and safe home. Let me repeat myself there is NO shortage of people wanting to adopt these children just a lack of funds. This is where Reece’s Rainbow come in… You can go to their page and donate any amount to any of these children. Right now if you donate $35 or more you receive a Christmas ornament with the picture of the orphan that you are helping. I donate each month to different children but there is a little girl named Olga who is facing the institution , and she is the one that I have made the choice to sponsor during Christmas after seeing her on a blog that I follow. The goal is to get 20k and soon so that this little girl isn’t lost forever. Will you join me in helping Olga come home? Every dollar could make a huge difference, and I have always felt that a small sacrifice on our end could mean life (at least a life worth living) or death to one of these children.
Please email me or make a comment on my blog if you donate to Olga or one of the other angels on this site by the end of January. If I see enough involvement I will be giving away a 42x42 inch lap quilt that I will make after the drawing so that the winner can choose the colors of the fabrics. If you would like to forward this onto your friends and family they can be entered in the drawing as well just make sure that they email me once they have donated and to which child.

There is also a giveaway on this amazing blog that started the journey to save Olga but it ends at midnight today!
Thank you for taking the time to read this, and hopefully taking the time to donate to one of these beautiful children.
